Using Spain (instead of France) as the backdrop for their music, Beso Negro has transformed the genre into a vibrant new beast. Darker, faster, more danceable, more blues, more Gypsy, Beso Negro’s indelible fingerprint brings Jazz Manouche to a new generation and to the 21st century.

Javier Jimenez of Madrid adroitly conjures the ghost of Django with his phenomenal guitar playing. Adam Roach’s vocals are singular, soulful and penetrating. Steve Gardner’s fiddle playing is fluid and dark. Cheyenne’s Bass drives the beat hard. RT on the cajon adds just the right touch to make the band swing. One night with Beso Negro and you will understand what is means to get the “Black Kiss”.

Jonny Keigwin Band – 9:00pm

Jonny Keigwin, a native Bay Area resident, is trained as a classical double bass player. Jonny graduated from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in 2002, Philadelphia. He has played with many local Symphonies in the bay area including the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, Berkeley Orchestra, Marin Symphony and others. Jonny began singing and writing his own music ten years ago, discovering a latent aptitude. He writes strange and irreverent songs, haunting ballads and whimsical tunes. The Jonny Keigwin Band include: Nathanael Hoehner (Bass), Matt Benedict-Montgomery (multi instrumental), and Ethan Turner (percussion). . Ethan Turner has toured and performed with many bands including Jesse Colin Young, 20 Minute Loop, American Drag, Chrome Johnson, and the legendary band, Scrunt. This is a traditional gathering of musical folk who come together to play jigs and reels and tell stories as a group. Traditional instruments such as the bodhran are usually to be seen amongst the players. Riggy has been leading a Seisun at Aubergine on a regular basis, and he will have invited guests for this classic movement.

San Francisco native Jesse Brewster’s sound fuses a Rock/Americana style he describes as “Tom Petty and Lynyrd Skynyrd get into a bar room brawl with Neil Young and John Mayer.” Jesse’s parents brewed his love for music at an early age. There was always something on the record player, be it Willie Nelson, The Stones or Bob Marley. At the age of 12 he started his first band with his brother Jim on drums and childhood friend Uriah Duffy (Whitesnake, Lyrics Born) on bass. “I can’t remember a time in my life when music wasn’t important to me,” he says. “It’s the greatest medium allowing you to express anger and rebellion, playful sarcasm, tenderness and beauty- it’s everything.”

Brewster spent his early career as a sideman touring with various bands as a guitarist and backup vocalist until a few years ago when he decided the time was right to break out on his own. “The singer-songwriter world is relatively new for me,” he admits. “While I’ve always loved singing, I was always focused on the guitar.” Focused, that is, until he could no longer hold back the urge to create his own music.

His creative spark was lit by a major catalyst: charity. He created his debut album, Confessional, as a benefit record to raise funds and create awareness of Polycystic Kidney Disease. One track in particular, “One Reason,” was written in memory of Brewster’s brother Jim who passed away in 1998 from PKD. “I have worked extensively with the PKD Foundation” he says, “since the release of the album, I help organize events and tour in support of the finding treatment and a cure for PKD.”

Jesse Brewster has maintained a busy tour schedule across the U.S. Songs “All She Deserves” and “Sometime” have garnered wide-spread acclaim and turned Brewster into one of the Bay Area’s artists-to- watch, thanks also in part to the numerous magazine and newspaper interviews as well as radio and festival appearances over the past year. Paul Liberatore of Here Magazine says of the EP: “The title track is an aching, heartfelt love ballad with an anthemic chorus and sweet harmonies that avoid superficial sentimentality and the kind of cloying clichés that doom lesser talents.” In addition, Brewster’s song “My Great Escape” has also been in regular rotation on San Francisco’s KFOG 104.5 FM, and was featured on KFOG’s “Local Scene, Vol.6″ album, benefiting music in schools.

In 2011, Jesse released a new full-length album, Wrecking Ball at the Concert Hall, which has received rave reviews from coast to coast, and earned him a spot on the Americana charts.

E.J.SIMPSON’s life has been Music for as long as his life has been Life, beginning on piano and vocals as a child in Kansas. Returning to his native Philadelphia, E.J. sang in a church choir and played bass in the political rap group The Goats before touring internationally and recording 9 CD’s with the trio Maggi, Pierce And E.J.(MPEband). He is currently at work on his 2nd solo album while playing with many varied bands and songwriters in Philly and New York as well as a solo, annual performance of JCSuperstar.

Rock, Country, and Soul

The String Rays is comprised of veteran Bay Area musicians; each member plays a crucial role in the writing, arranging and performing. Singer-songwriters Dave Monterey (Ruby Moon, The Lawyers), Timo Sheehan (Phoenix, Patriots of the Heartland) and Jeff Suits (guitar crazed Midwesterner) bring years of experience to the stage, and are joined by drummer/percussionist Dan Ransford (Mark Mclay and Dustdevils, Flatt Lonesome) and violinist extraordinaire Rick Loheyde (trained in Boston, seminal orchestra conducting work in Austin, assistant conductor Santa Rosa Symphony debut in 2006).

The String Rays are a Sonoma County quintet with a fresh sound that contains rock, country and soul elements. It’s a sound that appeals to a broad range of music fans and features rich three-part vocal harmonies and a captivating violin. They mix classic songs from such artists as Van Morrison, The Band and Lucinda Williams with String Rays’ originals. When The String Rays play everyone has a good time.

Collectively, the band members have shared stages with Delbert McClinton, Poco, Ricky Skaggs, Norton Buffalo, Kate Wolf, Maria Muldaur, Commander Cody, The Moonlighters, Joe Ely, Byron Berline and Sundance.
